2002 US-China Business Building Conference (Boston)

Co-organized by US Department of Commerce, US Small Business Administration (SBA), US-China Exchange Association (USCEA) and other state trade agencies and organizations, 2002 US-China Business Building Conference (Boston) was held at Sheraton Hotel in Boston on October 29, 2002.

Dr. George Wang, President of USCEA, and Mr. Jeff Butland, Regional Administrator of New England of US SBA, delivered welcome remarks and keynote speech. Mr. Jim Cox, Deputy Director of New England Center of US Department of Commerce, Ms. Linda Noonan, Executive Director of Alliance for the Commonwealth, Mr. Shuguang Liu, Deputy Mayor of Dongying City and Mr. Yuanfang Song, Mayor of Weihai City, Shandong Province and other US and Chinese officials presented on the opening ceremony.

More than 80 Chinese officials and entrepreneurs from Shandong, Hebei, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Tianjin and Northeast Region of China attended the conference to explore the business opportunities with more than 100 US company executives from New England area. The projects brought by Chinese delegation include petroleum, chemicals, machinery, textile, electronics, medicine, construction material, agriculture, and other industries. More than 30 of letters of intent on cooperation were signed at the conference.

During their stay in the US, the Chinese delegation also visited Asia-Pacific Development Center (APDC) in New York and El Monte Business Association (EMBA) in California, and discussed with the staff of the two organizations for the potential business cooperation in the future.
