The Governor and Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province Met with US Delegation

On May 28, 2006, Mr. Zhang Zuoyi, the Governor of Heilongjiang Province and Mr. Wang Limin, the Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province met with the US Economic and Trade Delegation led by Mr. Alain de Sarran, Deputy Director of East Asia and Pacific Office of US DOC, and Dr. George Wang, the President of US-China Exchange Association. The delegation made their trip to Harbin for attending "2006 US-China Business Matchmaking (Harbin) Conference" hosted by Heilongjiang Provincial Government, US national League of Cities and US-China Exchange Association.

During the meeting, Mr. Zhang Zuoyi, on behalf of the Heilongjiang Provincial Government, extended a warm welcome to the delegation for their attendance to "2006 US-China Business Matchmaking (Harbin) Conference". He said the purpose for holding this conference was to enhance and deepen the cooperation on investment and trade between Heilongjiang Province and USA, which would certainly bring about profound significances for deepening mutual understanding and expanding mutual exchange and collaboration. As a traditional industrial base in China, Heilongjiang Province boasts the powerful manufacturing strengths characterized by low cost and high quality as well as the preferential investment policies issued by the Provincial Government. Therefore, the US businesspersons will have a win-win outcome if they come to Heilongjiang.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Wang Limin's briefing, Heilongjiang has had 848 foreign direct investment projects made by US investors by the end of 2005. From January through April in 2006, 12 US-funded enterprises have been admitted by the Provincial Government to invest in Heilongjiang. Among their investment projects, the sum of foreign capital by contract has amounted to USD $34.42 million, increased by 37.4% compared with the one in 2005 and the sum of actual using foreign capital has added to USD $8.51 million, increased by 168.45% compared with the one in 2005. Therefore, Mr. Wang hoped that USCEA will continue to work as a bridge to bring more US entrepreneurs to conduct business in Heilongjiang.
