2003 US-China Business Building Conference in Newark

Co-organized by USCEA, US Department of Commerce and Newark Municipal Government, 2003 US-China Business Building Conference (US Session) was held in Robert Treat Hotel, Newark, New Jersey on November 18, 2003.

Mr. Michael Pappas, Regional Administrator of US SBA and former US Congressman, Mr. William Spitler, Director of New York Hub of US Department of Commerce, Ms. Fleeta Barnes, Vice President of New Jersey State Commerce & Economic Growth Commission, Mr. R. Rice, Vice Mayor of Newark, Chinese Shandong Provincial Delegation with about 60 government officials and company executives, led by Assistant Governor Guangyuan Sun, and about 200 US company executives attended the conference.

Chinese companies came from industries such as chemical, electric, electronics, textiles, apparels, instruments, construction materials and household products. They brought more than 100 projects for the US business community. During the conference, about 30 Letters of Intent on Cooperation were signed.

Before the conference, USCEA, Shandong Provincial Government, New York City Economic Development Corporation and City University of New York (CUNY) also held a seminar on US-China Business Environment & Opportunities in CUNY Staten Island campus on November 17, 2003.
